Back pain

In sport, the back is often susceptible to injury. Sudden movements associated with activities such as football, hockey and rugby can cause jarring and abnormal stress to the spine. Distance running exaggerates the presence of even the smallest imbalance. A mild mal-alignment such as that caused by a small leg-length discrepancy might be tolerated in a non-sporting individual; however a marathon runner who drops one hip slightly more than the other will be at increased risk of injury.

At the London Podiatry centre we work closely with other specialists to treat back pain effectively.

Our in-depth biomechanical and gait assessments play a crucial role in understanding the cause for back pain. These systems are also used to ensure that treatment has resulted in an improvement in posture and gait
