Neovascularisation

Neovascularisation

In this image our advanced ultrasound scanner has allowed us to detect abnormal blood vessel activity called "neovascularisation". This is treated with a specific type of injection technique.

Here the tendon has been injected and all of the neovascularisation has resolved. The patient's pain resolved soon after.

Achilles tendon injury

The Achilles tendon commonly becomes injured, particularly in the sporting population. At The London Podiatry Centre, the condition is managed in a structured way.

Diagnosis is made using advanced ultrasound imaging and this may include tendon thickening / degeneration (known as tendinopathy), tears of the tendon, calcification within the tendon, spurs and a variety of other conditions. Once the diagnosis has been made, the next stage is often to determine the cause by means of biomechanical and gait analysis, so that a structured treatment plan can be devised.

The treatment options are varied but include footwear advice, orthotic therapy, cryosurgery, injection therapy and surgery to debride and repair the tendon. All of these treatment options are offered at the Centre.
